My love life and other disasters

The main reason I have started this blog is because when I'm telling my friends some of the things that have happened in my love life, they tell me to write them down (once they have finished with the hysteria).

I guess most people have one or two episodes of disaster in their love life but mine has been like the titanic since day one. By the way, I am changing names to protect the guilty.

I guess I should start with my very first boyfriend Michael. He was 14, same as me, and incredibly shy. My mother had decided that before I went out with a boy he had to come home and meet her and my dad. My mum is very elegant and very ladylike and the absolute oposite to my father. Dad was a bit of a bad boy in his younger days, with tattoos up and down both arms. He had very broad shoulders and an extremely intimidating look to him - think Hells Angels minus the bike.

When Michael turne up to meet me, Mum smiled sweetly and showed him to the living room. I hadn't realised he was there and was upstairs preening. When I went downstairs, Mum had given Michael a drink and was trying to put him at his ease. That, I fear was impossible as every time Mum tried to include Dad in the conversation he just glared at Michael and grunted, his arms folded across his chest. Poor Michael didn't know what to do for the best. Needless to say, Michael refused to come to my house after that, and dumped me after a week. (I never knew whether it was me he wanted to dump, or my dad!)

I had a few boyfriends after that, but I always arranged for them to meet my Mum and not my Dad (I wonder why?). When I was 16, I started becoming involved in amateur theatre. It's hard to describe the am dram world, and that could start its own blog on its own. But I will continue with that one tomorrow. Nemesis x
